(Reuters) - China is planning to authorize the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Germany s BioNTech SE by July, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
If approved, it would become the first foreign COVID-19 vaccine to be authorized in the country.
Chinese officials are reviewing clinical-trial data for the vaccine and are expected to authorize it for domestic use within the next 10 weeks, the report said.

NEW DELHI. KAZINFORM - India recorded over 200,000 coronavirus cases in a single day for the first time since the start of the pandemic, taking the country’s tally to over 14 million, Anadolu Agency reports. Related news
According to figures released Thursday by the Health Ministry, a total of 206,793 cases were registered, which pushed the country s total to 14.07 million. Another 1,038 coronavirus fatalities were also recorded, taking the number of virus-related deaths in the country to 173,123.
India has seen a massive increase in daily cases in the last few weeks, prompting many cities in the country to announce restrictions to curb the spread of the disease, although the federal government has said there will not be a nationwide lockdown.

A medical expert who testified in defense of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin told jurors on Wednesday he believed George Floyd s death while under arrest was the result of heart disease which made his heart beat erratically.
Dr. David Fowler, a forensic pathologist who was Maryland s chief medical examiner until his retirement in 2019, also told the jury he believed exhaust fumes from the police car next to which Chauvin pinned Floyd to the road may also have contributed to Floyd s death in May 2020.
